Crestview Thunderbirds versus Pensacola Wolfpac

Loss / 60-3

Thunderbirds show up with 24 players against the Pensacola Wolfpac's 54 players.  Wolfpac was last year's #2 in the PFL so we knew it was going to be a long hour of football.

Almost immediately the Wolfpac scored a touch down and used their player depth and playing experience to dominate the game.  At half time, we were down 40-0.  Went into the locker room and saw young men that were tired and outmanned, but not beaten.  Coaches had a few players that needed adjustments but mostly they were complementary about how much better we played over last game and yet tried to motivate us to go out and try even harder.  Score board may not reflect it, but we played better against Wolfpac than we did the Falcons.

Apparently, the players heard the call from the coaches.  Came back onto the field for third quarter and caused a turn over which lead to a field goal.  Players threw their arms in the air like we had just won the game.  We managed to score and that's something the previous Crestview team never accomplished in their three games before folding.  (Ironically, the previous team folded the last time they played the Wolfpac.)  I looked over at the Wolfpac and saw some confused expressions.  40-3 and those crazy Thunderbird players were happy.  Funny looking back but yeah, that was a big deal for us.  We'll be a competitive team later on - there's no doubt, but I hope we never forget the feeling we had third quarter of this game.

Twice our size and several seasons under their belt - I don't think anyone is surprised about them beating us.  On paper, there shouldn't be much of a contest but we played hard through every play and left it all on the field.  They went on to score three more touch downs for a final score of 60-3.

Perhaps it's just me, but I'm thinking our three points tasted better than their sixty.  We walked off the fields with our heads up and already talking about next weeks game with Panama City's Buffalos.

Wolfpac was gracious at the end of the game as we all shook hands and had a group prayer.  See you guys on August 22 on our turf and we intend to give you all we've got.

Coach Taylor announced players of the week:
