Crestview Thunderbirds versus Falcons

Loss 49-6

We were the underdogs in this game and had been hearing how the Falcons have put together a good team this year.

Most coaches or team owners would be upset by a score like this.  And granted, I'm not exactly excited about such a big spread in points.  However, as a team, we looked so much better than we did two weeks ago.  Since I like "calling em as I see em", a seasoned team like the Falcons are a much better team than the first year team Knights.  If we had based this week off that game, we should have lost by a much bigger spread.

Night starts out with us not being sure if a game was going to happen or not.  The weather was so nasty.  Next county over and the Knights end up canceling their game due to the weather. Love playing football in the rain but it's not so great for the fan base.  Who wants to get dressed up and go sit on metal bleachers as it's raining & lightning?  And you guys reading this that love playing ball, this is all a big circle.  On the physical side, we must have coaches willing to come out 3,4, 5 times a week for practice & games (plus the occasional baby sitting, big brother, and/or drill instructor moments), grown men that want to play ball.  On the business/money side, we must have someone willing to invest in a team, sponsors, and fans.  No fans means no sponsors and no sponsors means the team owner is paying out of pocket or there's no team.  Rainy games like last night kills the fan base.

We do a tribute to Anthony Gaskin's family with the Falcons joining us on the field.  National anthem, team introductions, team prayer, coin toss with City Councilman Charles Baugh doing the honors, & game starts.

First quarter and we're down 0-14.  Second quarter and seems like is 32ish and we've still got the goose egg.  Finally get a score during the second half.  Nothing like getting shut out and even worse when it's on your field.

When it's all said & done, we're down 49-6 but we didn't lose our pride.  I watched our players hitting hard all night and even when it was way past "too late" for a possible changing of tides, our boys stayed out there and gave it there all.  Everyone wants a winning team but right now, I'm just thankful we have some team work with some good attitudes.

Now that we have our team working together, let's get focused on winning some games.
